This weekend we wraped up a standalone series, heading into our pre-Easter Reset series. I’ve been working with Ronnie on a really cool set for Reset. It arrived during setup over the weekend—wow. Ronnie knocked this one out of the park. Too bad I can’t show you pictures until next week. The set this week was a mash up of a couple of elements from past designs, all part of the “inventory of looks” we’re building in Gtown.
Take a listen too. This was all acoustic. I’ve wanted to do a close-mic’d acoustic thing for a while. The sound was surprisingly full, although the real richness felt in the house didn’t completely translate to the recordings. Anyhow, take a listen.

As a sort of recap, I have to say from band, to teaching, to production team…WOW. This satellite campus experiment has become a real, authentic place. Not that numbers are a measure of the hearts of people—but we’re continuing to grow. New folks are coming to experience our art in all of it’s many forms. Like so many of you on our team, despite weekend after weekend of early mornings, this venture continues to be rewarding and affirming.
Here’s a song from a weekend or so ago. It’s organic. It’s raw. It’s real. One guitar and a heatfelt vocal. To say moving is an understatement.

I’ve slacked on posting some recordings of recent weekends at Gtown. Edits I’ve found are a bit hard to do sans laptop. However, my lovely wife has been kind enough to let me us “her” Powerbook. So, here’s a Best Of from the last few weeks…

A while ago I posted an experiment in alternative house light for our oh-so-elegant conference room venue at xroads’ gtown. After much work on the part of Ronnie, take a look at the result. The enclosures are constructed of 2×6 studs., with leftover corrugated plastic scraps for a diffuser. Just cause’ we placed metal gutter guard in front of the diffuser for a more industrial feel. The lighting element is a simple single tube 48″ shop light from Lowes. Pictures don’t capture the workmanship. Ronnie tells me he actually planned all of the wood—just like the finest of cabinets. Awesome job once again Ronnie!
These enclosures are actually sooo cool and so bright that I see them as a effect light or freestanding backdrop.

I was inspired by the following statement (on display at Jimmy Johns, or in Dave Berry’s book for those who like to read).
